Just had lunch with a friend who’s a publicist for the Sundance Institute. At one point she asked me if I’d seen the Murakami film, and I replied that I hadn’t.
“But I haven’t been watching a whole lot of movies this year,” I said.
“What do you mean?” she asked.
“Like other than Star Wars, I haven’t seen anything on screen since April or March. I didn’t even watch Kingdom of Heaven and I’m a huge Ridley Scott fan.”
“How about The Longest Yard?”
“You haven’t seen anything?”
She frowned and looked at me with bewilderment.
“What the hell have you been doing then? Picking your nose?” she asked.
I started laughing, because I knew she was being serious. Entertainment industry people, gotta love ‘em.
