Subject:Patagonia Pics: Buenos Aires.
Time:11:17 pm

Before I headed to Patagonia, I stayed in Buenos Aires for three nights, and one more night on the way back from Patagonia. I'd been to Buenos Aires in '04, so you can see more pics in this entry. The above photo was taken at La Recoleta Cemetery - one of those City of the Dead type of places where rich corpses live in mansion-like mausoleums and dine on only the finest human brains.

Calle Florida is a crowded, touristy pedestrian street that's packed with stores, banks, and locuterias. These tiny accordianists were annoyed when I took their picture. They wanted money, and became mighty pissed when I unfortunately didn't have any small bills to give them. I don't care what anybody tells you: beating up children is a lot tougher than you'd think.

You're looking at the future: stilt-dancing mimes are the next emo kids.

I'd already been to Milion the last time I was in Buenos Aires, so I didn't want to go again. But there wasn't really much else going on that night except for La Cigale, which is insanely packed on Tuesdays. This section of Buenos Aires has many old Parisian-style townhomes with elegant stairwells, stained glass ceilings, and ornate doors. A lot of them have been transformed into boutique hotels, restaurants, and - in Milion's case - lounges. Thanks to Argentina's currency devaluation, you can have a beautiful townhouse for free after you murder the owners.

This was my last dinner in Buenos Aires. And almost my last meal, period. As you can see, La Cabrera doesn't fuck around with their portions. Before this, I had a giant caprese salad that easily could have fed three people. For some reason, I initially thought there was a remote possibility of my being able to finish everything. But that was before I started to weep steak juices.
