Subject:Mongolia Pics 4: Hustai National Park.
Time:10:08 pm

It's been modernizing rapidly, but Mongolia's still a land of nomadic herders. Wherever we went, the ground was practically carpeted with the poo of many different creatures - from yaks and goats to marmots and Rog. And scattered among the many turds were fashionable animal bones.

The Tahki are the only wild horses in the world. There are just 1200 left, and almost all of them are in zoos. So it was truly special to see Takhis out in the wild, being free to do what they truly loved: digesting grass.

This is my computer wallpaper right now. And if Bill Gates were Mongolian, I'd imagine it would be on your PC as well.

Rog recreates the opening credits of Kung Fu. In a way, I'm glad Bruce Lee got screwed out of starring in the show. Not sure if he'd be as cool if he was remembered as being dressed as Kwai Chang Caine instead of the iconic yellow-and-black tracksuit.

We couldn't grab a flight down to the Gobi Desert, so we missed our chance to visit the Khongoryn Els, or the Singing Sand Dunes. Instead, we had to make do with Khongoryn's ugly midget cousin, Moltsog Els.

I have no idea what these flowers are called, but they're all over Mongolia. They only grow an inch above the ground, but what they lack in height they more than make up for in moxy.
