These are pics from Heidi's pre-going away party. Here she is doing two of my favorite things: goofy photo face and a Patron shot. When she's gone, it'll be back to just me and Paul again.
Heidi's leaving LA this upcoming weekend for Europe. According to her, she may be back in two weeks or two years. Knowing her, this makes complete sense as thoughts and emotions tend to wildly ricochet inside her head like bees frantically trying to fly out of a jar.
Part of me is sad about her departure, as there will be one less friend taking cortex-killing Patron shots and publicly embarrassing photos with me. Bleu will definitely be more blue without her bellowing out the lyrics to "Don't Cry For Me Argentina." But I'm also very happy for Heid.
Back in September, when she began her new job as an IT auditor, she'd constantly tell me how miserable she was (The poignant part of this story is that much of this was communicated to me while she Blackberry messaged me from the toilet.). So I told her that she should quit her occupational error and see the world now, before she was fenced in by career, comfort, and contentment. My biggest regret when I was in my twenties was not having the balls to leave my happy little world in LA and wander the Earth for an extended period of time. And I didn't want her repeating my mistake.
Little did I know that she would actually have the testicles to do it. She resigned in October and, three months later, she's flying off to London as her starter city. London's one of my least favorite cities in Europe, but I hear they speak English there, which is convenient. And Heidi's partial toward tidy, polite metropolises, so she may very well end up staying awhile. Or perhaps the bees in her head will lead her to other places, whether it's Geneva, Barcelona, or the happy little world of LA.
